Weekend of 4th/5th February and 11th/12th February
In view of the freezing temperatures forecast the Club has CANCELLED all Saturday morning training at the Rec. The ground is frozen solid with no sign of a thaw and it is dangerous to play on it. Any player who chooses to go to the Rec with a football and has an accident will not be covered by Hordle Spurs insurance.
Decisions on HOME fixtures will be made be 9am Sunday morning. Thank you
Kids Xmas Party at Ashley Rugby Club - 23rd December
A great evening - thanks to all who attended. We made a fabulous £145 on the raffle which will be put back into Club funds.
DOGS AT MATCHES
Please note that along with the vast majority of other Clubs in our league, we have now introduced a no dogs policy at our home matches. A football match is no place to bring a dog and we have had a number of incidents recently involving dogs running around during matches, running up to players and frightening them etc and of course, fouling which seems to be getting worse not better. Please do not bring your dogs to matches. I will also be asking away supporters via their Secretaries to do the same and if you are advised via myself and your manager that the away club has a no dogs policy, please respect this. Unfortunately we cannot stop members of the public exercising their dogs without a lead at the same time as matches are happening. Today we even had to suspend a match whilst a dog ran on the pitch and fouled during the game. I know that many parents and managers are finding the situation with dog mess on our pitches week in, week out an unacceptable health and safety risk and I urge you to write (or even better get your kids to write) to the Parish Council expressing your views.

8th Sept
A very promising first week for our teams, although the U9s and U11s were beaten by the rain on Tuesday night. On Sunday, the U16s' revitalised squad made a great start with a 3-1 victory over Sway and the U10s pipped Boscombe 3-2 in an exciting first match at the Rec with goals from Dylan Chipchase (2) and Lloyd Vivian. Over in Christchurch the U9s won their first competitive league match comfortably 7-2 with a goal from Jack Rose and a brace each for Seb Wright, James Reed and Reece Piner. Well done boys, your new kits should be with us by Christmas. Back at the Rec, the U13s had a tough start to the season against relegated from the higher division Boscombe and were left shell shocked by the visitors' 4 goals in 15 minutes. They played some outstanding football to pull back to 6-7 and "equalised" just before time only to have it disallowed. On the scoresheet Sam Hill, Will Logsdon and new boys Tim Nurse and Oscar Brinsdon with a hat trick.
Midweek saw the U13s high scoring ways continue with an outstanding display against Sway. Seven - one up at half time, they went on to win 8-3 with last year's Golden Booter Kyle Thompson scoring six. The U10s played some great passing football but lost 3-1 to Sprites in a fast paced, end to end match with the new team members all showing immense promise for the rest of the season. Both the U11s and U15s get their 2011/12 campaigns going on Sunday.
A new football season starts tomorrow. On behalf of the committee and managers I wish you all a successful but above all a happy season. We want to see as many parents as possible at the matches, cheering and encouraging the players. A warm welcome to the 19 boys and their families who are new to our Club; hope you enjoy your time here at Hordle Spurs.
3rd Sept
A reminder
Please, please, please if you know you are going to be away on a Sunday let your manager know as soon as possible. Also if the player has regular weekends away from the area, it is useful for the manager to have this information so he can plan his teams. We now have two teams struggling to get a team together for this Sunday because the manager was not told players would be away. It's too late to do anything about it now and it's hard on teammates when a below strength side is fielded. Thank you. 2/9/11
August 8th
A great training session by the under 7s on Saturday (children about to go into school year 2). We now have about 10 of the right age but unfortunately it is too late to enter into a league for the coming season. We will organise some friendlies and keep training and enter as U8s this time next year. Training is on a Saturday morning at Hordle Rec from 10.30am
U8s to U16s - if you have not submitted your BYFL registration yet and I understand from managers there are still some floating about, I must have them by August 17th in order to play at the start of the new season as I am away the following week/10days.
July 20th
I am pleased to report that we exceeded the minimum number of registered players for all teams by the cut off date so all seven Hordle teams will run for the 2011/12 season! If you still have not submitted your form/documentation please get these to your manager during the next 3 weeks so you qualify for first match which is Sunday September 4th. A few schools are starting back later than usual (Hordle Primary starts back on Wednesday 7th for example) so if you are still on holiday on Sunday 4th and/or for the midweek fixtures scheduled for week beginning 5th September it is vital you let your manager know. I have to submit a postponement request to the league by 6th August. I already know of one team that is seriously struggling for numbers on the first Sunday. Thank you
DEAN COURT

February 13th 2011
All but one of our matches fell victim to the monsoon like weather - only the U12s survived and put on a determined and spirited team performance to overcome Broadstone 7-3. Both teams are to be commended on their play in driving rain on a pitch that by the end resembled something from a World War 1 film without the blood. Kyle Thompson scored another three to take his season's total so far to 39 and there was one a piece from Sam Hill, Brendon Main-Baillie, Will Logsdon and Matt Lock. I have just about dried out and warmed up.
February 6th 2011
Hordle Spurs teams followed the example set on Saturday by the Premier League by being involved in high scoring games - 44 goals across 6 matches - unfortunately not always in the right net.
Our only win of the day came from the U12s who put 8 past Poppies (6 of these from Golden Boot front runner Kyle Thompson) in our “home” match played at Everton Rec (thanks Les for loan of the pitch!). The U10s narrowly lost to Sprites thus ending their fantastic run of 6 wins in a row; they may fare better next Saturday against the same team in their first ever 11 a side friendly. Both the U14s and U15s lost to Christchurch opposition and the U18s threw away a two goal lead to draw 3-3 with Twynham.
January 2nd 2011
After an rather extended break due to Christmas and bad weather, four of our teams were back in action in the first fixtures of the year. The U9s couldn’t maintain their pre-Xmas form and after a spirited first half performance against a skilfull Mudeford team, too many chocolates from the selection box caught up with them in the second half, ending in a 6-1 defeat. A totally different story for the U10s who put six of the best past Christchurch - a Samuel White hat trick, a brace from Elliot Anderson and a goal from Cameron Piner sealed a wonderful team performance.
The U12s left it to the last five minutes for Kyle Thompson to score the winner in a tight 3-2 contest against a determined Eagles at Fawcett Fields; Jordan Cross and Dan Ferris, with his first goal for the team, were the other scorers. The U15s had an unhappy trip to Ringwood, losing heavily 10-0.
The U14s were due to play Christchurch but unfortunately several of the boys were hit with a sickness bug, so we had to scratch the match.
November 28th
Not our finest hour, with half of our matches postponed and the other half across the board defeats. The U10s were narrowly pipped at Sway and find themselves in an unaccustomed mid-table position. The U12s lost 2-4 to a determined Parley despite early domination and many chances that they failed to convert into goals. A similar story at Chapel Gate where a 0-4 defeat for the U15s does not do them justice - again lots of periods of domination but it was hosts Christchurch who took their chances well to run out victors. It was the sixth consecutive defeat for our oldest boys, the U18s, who lost 2-6 at the wonderfully named Lytchett Red Triangle. Lewis Legg and Ashley Macauley got the consolation goals.
